We envision an all-rail Elgin-Westheimer route

connecting the Eastwood and Hillcroft transit centers

University Corridor - Westheimer / Elgin Route

Residents in the Third Ward voted for LRT (rail) and not BRT (bus) and we advocate an all-rail route from the Eastwood Transit Center down Elgin/Westheimer. The Main St. rail line would intersect the University line in the heart of Midtown at HCCS. Most importantly the retail centers are connected up, with the Galleria area being critical for sufficient ridership without a transfer to a Post Oak line. To get to the Hillcroft transit center, an alignment along the existing ditch at Briargrove Drive might be utilized. If the Westheimer alignment could not practically be connected to the Hillcroft Transit Center over the ditch, it may be of even greater use in the future to continue the University line westward toward the heavily commercialized Westchase District, and allow the Hillcroft Transit Center be connected to the overall system with regional rail.
